The Change Challenge: A Long, Hard Look into the Mirror

What do you see when you look at the mirror each morning?  Do you see a person who has grown and prospered over the past twelve months or does the person looking back at you only appear twelve months older and sadder?
Do you see someone who is smarter or someone whose brain has turned to mush?
Do you see someone who is at peace or someone who is in turmoil?
Is the reflection happy or are there lines of worry across the forehead?
Do you see someone with more money in the bank and less girth around the belt-line?  Do you gaze into the eyes of confidence or do they squint with indecision?
Do you like what you see?
Are you in the same tough places today that you were one year ago?  Or have you made changes in your life that put you on track for better things?
If you find yourself stuck, frustrated, disappointed…then I want to offer some simple tips to help change the face in the mirror.
You are the master of your own castle, the captain of your own ship, the Tom-Tom for your own journey.  You set the course.  You determine your direction.
Let’s set a course for change.
Let’s determine that next year will be different from last year.
Let’s agree that we will no longer allow circumstances to move us away from where we want to be.
Let’s agree that we will no longer allow circumstances to keep us where we don’t want to be.
Let’s work together to change the face in the mirror.

  1. I will join you in this. This time next year we'll be able to say we've lived our life on purpose and with intention to advance the kingdom of God. We'll embrace the opportunities for growth presented in the challenges of day-to-day living. Once we've exhausted all other options we'll take that hard look into the mirror until it becomes a habit to do so earlier in the process and not as a last resort. I bet developing this habit will get us out of His way much sooner. You may be on to something!
