A Prayer for Sunday, August 5, 2012

The first day of school is always a picture-worthy event.

Dear God,

As school begins, as the summer winds down, as our children return to their books and study, as our schedules find more events and less free time, bless them all.

Give us knowledge so we can help our 4th graders with their math problems.

Give us creativity so we can help with science fairs and bake sales.

Give us patience so we can wade smoothly through the preteen episodes of angst.

Give us understanding so we can help our teens navigate the complex social world.

Give us peace at the end off each day that the decisions we’ve made, the words we’ve spoke and the actions we’ve taken reflect your love and grace to these precious gifts.
