Day 73 – A Little Advice, A Little Walk

2013.05.06My friend, Dave (you’ve met him in previous posts) suggested that I try something radically different.  Something whacky.  Something crazy.  So crazy, it just might work.

Dave suggested that I walk.

I know, right?  I thought the same thing!

Dave mentioned this past Saturday that I might do well to set aside my lofty goals of the extreme cardio-burn, the deep meditative reflection, the massive decrease in calories and massive increase in activity…And instead, Walk.

His thinking, and stay with me on this, is that I should make ONE change.  Nothing more.  Just Walk.  Walking is good for your body, mind and spirit.  Take a walk, every morning.  Start every day with a walk.

I’ve told you before and this confirms it; this guy is nuts.

But, despite the lunacy of his idea, I decided to give it a try.  And so, my wife and I walked today.  We strapped on our reflective bands and headed out into the early morning air to stride along quiet roads and early morning, misty streets.

Imagine my surprise when I realized he was right!  I felt better.  I actually worked up a little glow by the time we were done.

I don’t know if this will lead to anything but it is possible that taking that first step, is in fact, the first real step in my Journey to 50!
