The boys are out. For the first time in 14 years, two rooms in our house are empty. I don’t just mean that they took some clothes and posters. They are completely empty. Nothing is on the wall and nothing but an old bookshelf is on the floor.
Now is the time to make the most of the vacancy. We’ll start by painting. But we start painting by selecting colors and testing them.
I’m color blind and as a result, I have no say in the choosing process. Oh, sure, I get to do the work. I just don’t get to made any suggestions about hue and tone.
But today was about more than one trip to Lowe’s for a pint of test-paint. We finished plantings in a new flower bed, covered the ground with mulch and cleaned up the front beds in preparation for fall.
We hopped on our bikes and rode to the neighborhood tennis courts and swatted at some balls. We haven’t played tennis for a decade so our form wasn’t pretty. We chased more errant shots than anything else. But it was fun and we worked up a good sweat.
I weighed in today and at a good 205 lbs. That’s the best part of the day. I’ve set my target goal for 180 by February. Between prepping for the 5K in October and taking my meds, I think I’m on the right track.
It was another great day!
